Drawing and Sketching Pencil Set In Zippered Carrying CaseReviewsGood Product & quality. It was a little smaller then I realized, but perfect size for my daughter to take in the car when we do on trips. This product arrived quickly and was very nicely priced! I love the amount of drawing pencils included! I got this for a Christmas present and it was a hit! Thank you! I purchased this set to send my son, a Marine deployed to Afghanistan, along with a sketch pad. He is very talented at drawing, and I'm hoping he can use them to unwind when he gets some hours off. This kit has a hard case that packs easily and protects the contents.. I brought this kit a month ago and i am satisfied with it. The pencils and eraser are of good quality. Great for beginners. The best thing i found about this kit is the carrying case which makes it really easy to carry around. Average Rating:![]() |

Strathmore Drawing Paper Pads Size 8 x 10 inchesReviewsThe price was 3.49 per tablet, but by the time I paid shipping, I ended up paying around $6.00 per tablet. Plus, the edges were dog earred from shipping. Definitely NOT worth it. This is a nice sketch pad. Paper is sturdy and clean. A quality product. Nice, strong, durable and handy. I love the smaller size ones, fits in my purse. I purchased this product without thinking much about it! I was very dissapointed but it was no ones fault but my own! The price was good but by the time I paid shipping it cost me over $12.00 that I could have bought for 5 in the store! You can find more sheets of paper for less money in similar paper products, but not of this quality. Those inexpensive pads are adequate for younger children; we all know how they often enjoy scribbling one line per page and then tossing the unfinished "work" ... or pasting it to the fridge AS IS! Daddy's little budding artists ... lol ... But this Strathmore product is definitely for the more advanced artist who wants a sketch that s/he can frame, if desired. This paper is of a higher quality in an aesthetic cream color, appropriate for highlighting details of the artist's best illustrations. Since each pad contains twenty-four 80lb. acid-free sheets per spiral-bound pad, that's approximately six sheets per dollar. What a bargain! Reviewed by: Betty Dravis, 2008 Average Rating:![]() |

Elmo's World - Singing, Drawing & MoreReviewsAll the DVD is great, but we adored the singing part it is very funny!! Very please with purchase and the seller. My item arrived way before the estimated date. Will do business with again. Thank you My 19-month-old loves Elmo, and this is another great video. There are a couple of slow parts, during the drawing section, and I'm a little disappointed that the singing portion is duplicated in another Elmo video we have, but other than that, it's kept his interest. My grandson likes it-not quite as much as "The Best of Elmo", but watches most of it. Elmo's World is a really cute DVD. My little brother and sister love it! I have heard the songs so many times I sing them in my head when I'm not even watching it. If you have little kids you must buy Elmo's World! If your kids are a little older like me the craft DVD called Crafty Fun will be great for them. Average Rating:![]() |

How to Draw Comics the Marvel WayReviewsI remember first seeing this in VHS form MANY years ago, and I enjoyed it. More as a cheerleading device than an article of information. Even when I first saw it, I realized from comic books I was reading at the time, that many of the things being said about comics in general, and Marvel specifically, were simply not true anymore. The "Marvel Way" being viewed and discussed is the way of 1970. The way of John Buscema and Jack Kirby. There is nothing wrong with this "way", it's just not what's being asked for and wanted from artists in comics today. These are rules, and successful comics today often succeed by 'breaking' these rules. To hear Stan Lee impose what almost sounds like a mandate on drawing lips and eyelashes is almost laughable. The women being illustrated and discussed are women from 1970, which were often already basically women from 1950. And although it's refreshing to see comic book females being drawn and discussed without showing or mentioning the now commonplace trait of over-sized breasts and 8-inch waists, it's still more of a valuable record of an era in comic books than an instructional device. HOWEVER... the illustrated use of perspective, impact, angles, technique and storytelling are still just as accurate and important today as they were then. And except for the obvious omission of computer use in comics today, also offers excellent advice on the methods and many of the tools used to construct a professional comic book. It also emphasizes the need for dedication and practice to become better skilled in this art form. It's on this level that I found it most valuable - as a cheerleader. Any beginning artist with an ounce of talent, looking to break into the business of creating comic books will find it hard not to be motivated and encouraged by the energy and enthusiasm in this DVD. Even now, I find myself swept up in Stan's very sincere desire for me, and other artists to succeed. There's no fancy film work here, shot on video, no real menu or extras, and the music is annoying. But it's crisp, clear and colorful. I'm very glad it's out on DVD, as pausing is much better for viewing the vast art displayed throughout. I would recommend this for any person starting out or interested in the details of comic book art. A good way to see how things are done, but I wish they had went into a detailed step-by-step instruction of the drawings. But I would recommend this for anyone who wants to get into drawing comic books. You still have to learn perspective and anatomy and things like that in more detail. There are a lot of great books out there for that. But this is a good DVD to have in your drawing collection. Way too much exposition and not enough, how you say, "Bob Ross"-style step by step instruction, but hey, that's what art school is for, right, Binky? Anyhoo, John and Stan do an excellent job explaining the basics of figure drawing and composition choices for comic panels. Inspirational, and rather like hanging at a family gathering with the oldsters. That's my opinion/memory implant. Very 80's in video quality and the music; oy! the soundtrack! I was waiting for someone to get a pie in the face!!! There is NOTHING in this DVD that wasn't in the book. In fact, Stan and John basically read the book to you as they show you the pictures from the book. I was hoping to actually SEE the artists do the drawings, but there is maybe 60 seconds total of footage of actual drawing. The rest of the video is just John Buscema tracing over all the images that are already in the book. If you really want to learn to draw comics, this isn't for you. If you just want a basic overview of the process, this dvd might not be TOO disappointing. But if you already own the book, DEFINITELY don't waste your money. It would be cheaper just to have your mom read the book to you. Well, if he likes, give him this Video and extimulate him to try it out drawing !!! It's a great video and can definitivelly help him enter in this fantastic world. Average Rating:![]() |

STRIKER Construction Pencil with DURA LEAD combo packReviewsNumber 1 reason I got this was because it stays the same length. It is surprisingly accurate when sharp. I've only used it for framing so far but its obvious I'll be able to use it for basic finish work as well. One drawback is the leads break inside the pencil. Apparently, the pencil flexes, being made of plastic. Over all, I'd recommend it. The leads break, the leads jam, it costs almost as much in shipping as the cost of the product. An extremely poor value for the money. Bought this and several other types of mechanical carpenters pencils to try because I got tired of constantly sharpening wooden carpenter pencils for construction work. After using it a few months I am very pleased. The function is good, the pencil body is strong and the lead has teeth so it is held tightly in the pencil body. There are two ways to use it. For any masonry, rough carpentry, tile layout or any outdoor work the lead works fine as is. The line is dark enough and thin enough. For anything where I need to have a finer line I rub it a few times on cement or on a piece of wood to make the lead line a little finer. If you drop it that can break the lead inside as another reviewer commented. Its happened to me occasionally, but it is still a lot better than the old way. I'm not going back. Highly recommended. The purpose of this little guy is to avoid spending time sharpening your pencils, of course. It accomplishes that, at least for a while - but it falls short of being an improvement. Never sharpening a pencil means it is never sharp - which may be fine if you only need +/- 1/8" accuracy - but don't expect anything better than the dull, rounded end that usually signals the need for a sharpening. This is what using the STRIKER will be like for the first few days. After that, the cheaply assembled plastic body begins to separate, the lead is no longer held in place, and the pencil gets thrown away. My two STRIKERs didn't last long enough to need any of the lead refills they came with. Don't bother with this one. I picked up one of these based on a recommendation from another site, to round out an Amazon order I was making. I'm in the middle of remodeling a bathroom so I had a good opportunity to try it out. It operates like any other mechanical pencil, though the lead is quite thick and requires sharpening to get a fine enough point for accurate measurement, kind of defeating the purpose. I had just started using it, marking some wood to cut, when I tried to pull off the clip end, thinking there may be an eraser underneath, and it broke! the black tip which holds the lead retracted in to the body enough it cracked up both sides, rendering it useless. FRENCH CURVE SET 8/BXReviewsFor designing hotrods and kustom bikes, this is a great set. Almost every curve you need. The ship curve set will fill in the rest. I recommend it. This is my second set (first ones I was a little rough on and I broke, my fault). Made in Germany Not Communist China. Good quality. Excellent set. Prompt shipping. Very satisfied. I bought this item for my Model ship building hobby. I needed to make jigs for curving wood pieces for planking, bow fittings, etc. It came in real handy. Has just about all the curves you'll ever need. The quality of the plastic is excellent; heavy duty - will last a lifetime. This french curve set is well made for the price and has been very useful for grading and altering sewing patterns. I needed an economy priced set of templates to help my design of woodworking plans. I was browsing around on Amazon and happened upon this set. Hmmmmmm, good price, good variety...what the heck!! When I received the order I was thrilled! This set comes in a cardboard box which may not last too long but I thought they would all be wrapped in shrink-wrap and sent out. That was the first sign that this was a great bargain item. All of the individual templates have a great feature that I didn't appreciate until I used it. They have a raised center edge that runs completely around the template. Kind of like a piece of bologna sticking out from between two slices of bread (pretty good huh?). This ridge keeps the template from interfering with the line and prevents all sorts of marks on the template itself. High marks also go to the decision to make these templates fairly rigid. I ordered a batch of other templates at the same time and they bend and flop, sometimes while you are using it. Not these! They are substantial enough to withstand pressure as you draw and do not scoot out of the way. I'm sure drafting students, design students, and design professionals could put this set to a much more rigorous workout than I ever will but I think they are great and are exceptionally designed. TitanicReviewsI remember when this movie came out, there was a lot of bashing it in the media, with many critics and commentators saying it was a sappy movie made for teenage girls. I almost fell for this and didn't go to see it until it was almost gone from theaters. It was a fantastic movie, in fact, one of the best movies I've ever seen. I just watched it again recently and was once again amazed by this movie. James Cameron is a genius. One of the greatest romantic adventures of the 1990s, involving passionate romance, intrigue, adventure and danger. This movie both resurrects the Titanic ocean liner and it's fate, and creates a an intricate romance against it's backdrop. Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet) is trapped in loveless engagement with the wealthy but arrogant and cold hearted Caledon Nathan "Cal" Hockley (Billy Zane), and is rescued from ending it all by third class passenger Jack Dawson (Leonardo Di Caprio). Against the wishes of Cal and her mother, Rose falls into a passionate romance with Jack, who paints her in the nude wearing the necklace set with a valuable blue diamond called the Heart of the Ocean. This article provides the basis of the framing device as the 101 year old Rose (Gloria Stuart 84 years later explains the story to the treasure hunter Brock Lovett (Bill Paxton) and his team who are exploring the wreck of the RMS Titanic,. Gripping throughout with a phenomenal ending. The captivating Kate Winslet is perfect for the part of the spirited young Rose, and De Caprio provides an energetic and irrepressible hero in Jack Dawson. Spellbinding, gripping and heartbreaking scenes of the disaster itself. Memorable and heart wrenching is the scene of an Irish mother putting her young children to sleep with a bedtime story just before the ship sinks with them. Appearance also by Kathy Bates as the real life heroine of the Titanic Molly Brown. This has captivated millions of viewers with good reason. This truly is a classic love story, well known all over the world. It shows such deep love and how it's endless, even when faced with death. It starts out when Jack, a rough, poor average young man boards the same ship as Rose, a wealthy and beautiful young woman. At first sight, Jack is drawn to her, but he could never be worthy, not in the eyes of society. Later, as Rose is hating everyone and everything about her aristocrat life, she decides to end it all by jumping off of the boat. Thankfully Jack is there to pull her away and save her. That's when they start spending time together and, soon enough, they fall in love. Rose's parents and Rose's admirer try to tear them apart but Jack and Rose find their own way to each other. The ship hits an iceberg (of course everybody knows that) and goes down, with all chaos running loose and Jack is trapped below, because he had falsely accused of a crime and Rose heroically saves him. Later Rose and jack struggle to stay together and end up in the freezing water. Jack gives Rose the wood to lift her above the water, then freezes to death leaving her just to watch helplessly. She is rescued and lives on. This is a story remembered by Rose in the present and she still loves Jack after all of these years. This is a very moving film and has touched the hearts of many. You really should see it if you have not. "Titanic" (1997) was the world's top grossing movie until director James Cameron did "Avatar." Cameron also directed this blockbuster. It tells two tragic stories: the story of the ill-fated ship and the story of a doomed shipboard romance aboardship. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson and Kate Winslet as Rose. DiCaprio's boyish looks and slim body opposite Kate's rather chunky, hippy body make him prettier and more lithe than she. Both are captivating. It's probably Di Caprio's best role because it fits his youth and personality. There's some fanciful and improbable stuff going on in the bow of the ship. I've never been on a cruise ship yet where passengers had such access to the bow so they could stand up and act like they're the ship's fugureheads. In an early scene DiCaprio and his buddy are in the bow; how two steerage passengers got access to it is beyond belief. Later there are the famous scenes of the lovers cavorting at the bow. In several early scenes DiCaprio from Steerage seems to have too much run of the ship. The overhead shots of the ship are very impressive: the camera glides over the majestic funnels and decks from stern to bow. The technical features of the movie are quite well done. The ship's architect is aboard as is the president of the company, Ismay, who wants to see the ship break TransAtlantic speed records. The captain does not want to push the engines to capacity especially in iceberg-infested waters. The ship is reliant on two lookouts in the crow's nest to spot bergs. The two lovers, even as the ship is sinking, are pursued by Rose's manic, wild-eyed fiancé (actor Billy Zane) and a gun-toting bodyguard. They're like classic Perils of Pauline villains. (Cameron never strays too far from the roots of cinema even when he's doing his breakthrough technical shenanigans.) Melodrama for sure, but what could have been more melodramatic than an unsinkable liner going down on its maiden voyage? The gutsy, outspoken Unsinkable Molly Brown (Kathy Bates) is aboard. The story is framed by a story within a story with an expedition exploring the ship's remains in the 1980's being the framing story. The centenarian Rose flies out to the discovery ship and relives her love affair. It's a great romantic movie of young love combined with a disaster flick. This is a movie that I really enjoyed, and it is a movie that I paid attention too. The name of the movie is Titanic, and I love that movie. When I had first seen it with my sister I couldn't stop watching it. When I had to get up and do something I would tell my sister to pause the move so that I wouldn't miss any part of it, but on the other movies I would have said "Let it keep going." The movie is a great movie, and you would love it to if you see it too. So I would like to give you some details about it, and then you will know why I love it so much. Well the charters names are Jack and Rose, and Rose boyfriend, and they're going somewhere, because they're supposed to go get married at some place. That is why they have to travel on the boat Titanic. Jack the boy he is at a place playing cards for a bag of money, and he had won the game, so then he began to run for he could get on the boat. He had made it just in time, and he had got on the boat and ran to the front of the boat, and go closed his eyes, stuck his hands out and he felt like he was flying. While Rose was on a date with her boyfriend, but then she had left and she seen Jack, and Jack had took her to a party. She had a lot of fun, so will Rose start going with Jack and cheat on her boyfriend, but that is all I can tell you if you want to know more go get the movie and watch it. You can tell from this movie is that you can love someone in first sight. This movie is a true story, which had very surprised me when I first saw it. Here is one more detail, at the end of the movie some people will die and some people will stay alive, but please watch the movie for more details and for you can see what happens with Jack, Rose, and Rose's boyfriend. This movie is a great movie, so watch and pay attention to it! By, Zhaneisha Williams Average Rating:![]() |

When the theatrical release of James Cameron's Titanic was delayed from July to December of 1997, media pundits speculated that Cameron's $200 million disaster epic would cause the director's downfall, signal the end of the blockbuster era, and sink Paramount Studios as quickly as the ill-fated luxury liner had sunk on that fateful night of April 14, 1912... |

Napoleon DynamiteReviewstruly an offbeat film...if you liked films like hamlet II you'll like this one too...if you havent seen hamlet II (2) check it out........ What an odd movie, but I completely adore it! Strange?!! I quote lines from it constantly with friends....why?! Because it's quite hilarious!! Makes great points about family, friends, life. Too much quirky fun! At my school, Napoleon Dynamite is considered a classic, but to me, it is a waste of time. It stars Jon Heder, as Napoleon, the main character. He's a weird character, and for some reason people find him and his jokes funny. Here's the level of humor we're dealing with here: "You're a fat lard." (You're supposed to laugh at that.) And, get this, Napoelon plays dodgeball with himself. Again, this isn't funny, it just kinda weird. If you laughed at the above jokes, you'll like this movie; but if you didn't, like me, this will be a complete waste of your time. Compared to the DVD, the blu-ray yields better definition, which means more accurate colors, greater detail, is more three dimensional, and the sound design is far more balanced. It's not leaps and bounds above the DVD transfer, but it certainly is better. Plus, I don't have to contend with that double sided DVD trying to determine which side is widescreen and which is crappy pan & scan(full screen). Luckyyyy! The humor in the film isn't seemingly obvious, like other comedies, but is rather subtle. So, you will probably laugh to yourself, rather than outloud. In any case, the film is worth checking out. A low-budget production, which gets the most out of it's limited resources. Average Rating:![]() |

ICHTHAMMOL DRAWING SALVE OINTMENT 30 GMReviewsIchthammol is an old tried and true draw that works very well (horsemen have used it for years) but the price was outrageous. I found it at a small local drug store for a fraction of what I paid on line...oh well This ointment contains only 20% ichthammol ointment. It's purpose as a drawing salve is severely diminished. I inadvertantly gave the ABC sellers and the ointment a "negative" review, which I am sorry for. I love the product and am so happy to find it again! This was an old-time salve that my Mom used on my sore places, especially that were infected. Thanks to ABC for offering the salve, and thanks for the quick service! PGraham Not sure why you can only find this through Vets now. They use it on Horses to draw out infection. It smells horrible and looks nasty, but it works. Was told about this by a friend who knew of it from back in the 60's. None of the Drug stores around here carry it (or even heard of it). Searched around, found it here and bought it. To my pleasant surprise, it worked.!! Just found this at my local CVS which is great because I am in pain NOW & I can not wait for shipping. Costs $4 there & you have to ask for it as they have it behind the counter in the pharmacy. THIS STUFF IS A MIRACLE!! I've had lots of boils & this is the first time I have ever tried this. It works by softening the skin alowing the puss inside to come to a head. I used it for 2 days & put it on in in the morning & in the evening. After 2 days it looked like it was almost ready to pop, so I poked a hole in the center of it with a straight pin to ease the pressure. I saw a little pus, but I still could not pop it because it was really sore & it wasn't ready. I put the ointment on again the next morning & by that evening it was ready to pop. It had opened up more so I squeezed it & released the core & lots of puss. It was such a relief!! NO MORE PAIN!! I will use this again & again & order it from Amazon when I start to run low. Draw OUT Salve 1 Oz Tube #1225ReviewsI had a splinter in my finger that was swollen and infected. I got the cream, put it on the sore about noon. Around six that evening, I was able to put the splinter out. Amazingly the pain and swelling went down by the next morning. My mother and grandmother have always used and recommended the pine gum salve. It works wonders. This stuff is magic. It removes infections over night. Make sure to use a band aid, because it is dark and will stain your cloth. My dad has been using this product for 40 years. It is an oldie, but goody. I was working with a wooden ladder around the house and occasionally get splinters in my hands. Sometime I have to soak them out. Three weeks ago, I got a splinter that would not come out. I went to urgent care and they could not remove it. I started to get a fever from the infection and went back to urgent care. They said go to a hand specialist. Next I called the emergency room to see if they could help and they could not say. As a last resort I tried ICHTHAMMOL and within 24 hours the 3/8" long splinter came out! I am impressed. This stuff really works and does what the doctors would not attempt. ICHTHAMMOL softens the skin and allows the foreign object to come out. I recommend your purchase of this product. I have bought many items from Amazon and this is a good source. This is supposed to be for drawing out splinters, but it's really good on any wound. Softens the edges and promotes healing. Smells and looks kind of awful (dark brown, tar-like substance) and used to be sold everywhere. So glad I was able to find it on Amazon (not at the grocery store, or Rite-Aid or CVS). Hylands Prid Drawing SalveReviewsI used it for pimple and rashes. I recently tried it on my toenails that had turned color. It was probably a fungal infection from putting on shoes wet with pond water several years ago. I put it on all the nails with socks and you can feel it working. My nails have begun to clear up. I will try it for a week and then see if its a permanent fix. I tried this product for the first time. It worked good for me and my daughter. I absolutely love this stuff. It is good for many different minor skin irritations such as cuts, scrapes, boils, blisters, hang nails, irritated cuticles, acne etc. I purchased this to quickly heal up acne and it really did the trick. It won't work to prevent acne or stop it from happening. It will bring the pimple to a head much faster and allow the wound to heal after it has been popped with minimal to no scarring. Sometimes, it even seems to dissolve the acne with no painful pinching, poking or popping! I've also used this on blackheads with great success. I absolutely love this stuff. Thanks Would have been easier to learn if an instruction book had been included, but the dealer did everything right. I am so surprised that the tablet works so well since I bought it cheap. It's the perfect size for my laptop and it's easy to carry around with me. I'm a graphic design student working with photoshop and illustrator a lot. I think the tablet is an awesome tool that makes working with these programs so much easier. I would highly recommend this tablet. Works for me as a right-hander and for my roomate, a leftie. My own impatience and urgency for accomplishing jobs makes this device impractical for me. The conventional mouse is so imbedded in my brain and bones, that the pen is just too frustrating. While I understand the jargon of the Corel programs, I am so accustommed to Photoshop and know how to accomplish my needs there so quickly that this software's learning curve has been too high for me. I just give up and switch over to Adobe. This may change as my frustration quotient lowers, and I get some time to play. I was skeptical about how I would use this or how it would work, but it's surprising simple and easy. I already did a couple of doodles with it and it worked fine. I really can't say anything bad about it besides the pen feeling cheap, but you completely forget about that when casually using it. Weather using it over a mouse or using it as an artist tool, this is a great way to start! I find that it works best with openCanvas freeware rather then the bundled software. Average Rating:![]() |

Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch Fun Small TabletReviewsthis is my first wacom although I have had the intuos 4 small version. I bought this for my gf. The active area for the wacom is great. It's not too small or big but just right. The software loaded easily. The look of the product packaging is great! The neg. part is that using it in photoshop, sometimes the pad would just zoom in/out by itself. Also when my hand with the stylus is writing something from top to bottom, it would think that was a scroll gesture making me loose my place. This happening over and over again is very annoying. So I turned the touch feature off, and it stil does that. I had to reload the software. It's not a bad product for it's price but with the little quirks the end user has to take time and adapt to it's challenges which is not so cool. Next time I'm going for another intuos 4. That works flawlessly and the sensitively of the stylus is like Perfection! for me the one thing missing from the bamboo tablet is wireless and more gestures, like the 4 finger swipe. i keep having to go back to my macbook's trackpad. It's works great. I can do all my artwork on it. I can save it, or change it when I want. I wish I had one of these long ago. The pen slides smoothly over the screen. It's as easy as using a pencil to paper, but much easier to change or correct mistakes. Lacks the build quality of the far more expensive Wacoms but provides all of the essential pen-feel for my Photoshop work. And doubles as a multi-touch pad for general work. I got this device primarily for pen input (online teaching) but as a MacBook owner was also intrigued at the idea of adding multi-touch to my PC. When all was said and done, I had to disable the buttons on the pen to get the results I was after. Too many buttons to push accidentally. Maybe I'm just uncoordinated. As a pen, I love it. I have found the best results by setting the pad to represent only a portion of the screen comparable in size to the actual tablet. (I run quad monitors - mapping to all was insane and useless). Also selecting the finest line available helped. The multi-touch scrolling is ok, but I tend to just use my mouse. If you're really just after a pen and tablet, you may want to consider the pen only option and save a few bucks. Average Rating:![]() |

Wacom Bamboo FunReviewsThe tablet has a great natural feel to it with the perfect amount of precision. The multi-touch still needs work but is a great addition. I am loving my new wacom bamboo fun and touch tablet. It takes a little getting used to and I miss the wheel on my mouse to increase or decrease the view of the pictures I am working on in Photoshop, however, I have no other complaints. Would highly recommend. just purchased this for my daughter - an arts student, and the tablet pen is already malfunctioning and it is not covered under the warranty. Dissapointed! I think the entire product should be covered, especially since the item was just purchased. I have bought this tablet fromk usa. and came back to europe. after than its surface began to sweal and lift off. I have contact with the seller but they say taht they can do nothing if I am not in the us. Also I have read that the surface is sketching. but they are not selling replaceble surfave for this tablet. So dont buy this unless you will gonne use it upto 3 months. I ordered this product as a way to use the computer as my canvas. The pad works amazingly, picking up on every brush stroke and even the pressure of each stroke. Well worth the money! Boogie Board LCD Writing TabletReviewsThe only reason i'm not giving the boogieboard 5 stars is because it lacks the ability to transfer, or store data. If it had a USB port, or small storage capacity, I expect everyone would find it useful. It also could use a slot to hold a stylus, rather than having to transport it separately. Aside from these 2 negative attributes, I think it is a great product; everything I would expect, and more for the $30 price tag. I find it seriously hard to believe that people are complaining about the lack of contrast and dim display. The visibility on the screen is exactly what I expected, and is quite clear in any environment (assuming you're not adept to writing with pen and paper in the dark). Don't let those reviews deter you because the screen is more than adequate. bottom line - I am buying another one. I use it at work on a daily basis....it has cut down on the amount of "post-it" notes I use. Great for temporary writing, or as a digital update to the venerable chalkboard. My four-year-old son and I have great fun playing with it. It should be able to replace a pile of sticky notes too, but we haven't pressed it into practical use. The price kind of rules out having a pile of them, and the "erase the whole thing" feature kind of makes it hard to use as multiple sticky notes. But it's super-easy to use! The other reviews about this product tell it all. This product is a high-tech white board that is great for keeping notes and shopping lists on the fridge. I had trouble getting it through Amazon.com without paying over $100 for one. Luckily, the company's site, [...], started taking pre-orders for $29.97 with free shipping. C'mon, guys. You've got to be kidding me. Don't waste your money. If you're looking for the $99 iPad, this isn't it. I had to keep myself from laughing at the other reviews; one where they attach magnets to it and place it on the refrigerator; another where they scan the Boogie Board to save the information. I can buy the same thing in the local Dollar Store. When I was a kid I had a Magic Slate - it was cardboard with a thin piece of plastic on top of a waxen board. You could write on them with the included "stylus" or even with you finger. When you were done, you could lift the plastic sheet. Clean slate. Start over. The funny thing is, US Government used to use this same technology during the cold war - here's an article - [...] You could get the same product in the Magna Doodle, the Whatchamacallit, the Woolly Willy . . . Yes, definitely low tech, but it works - in fact, I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison of these old tech wonders with the Boogie Board. The Boogie Board apparently has the same capabilities, but at a higher cost and less environmentally friendly - save paper (that could be recycled) but buy all those chemicals that go into batteries, plastics and lcd's and eventually go into the landfill. You get to pay the extra money for what marketers call "the sex appeal of technology". Again, if you're looking for that $99 iPad, this isn't it (if you're looking for something to write on and save that information, you may want to try the Solidtek Digimemo or the Adesso Cyberpad. I own the Cyberpad and like the fact that I can save information on a memory card and still have the paper). If I want a doodle pad that is environmentally friendly I'll listen to my inner child and revisit the Magic Slate. Think hard before you buy this. Average Rating:![]() |
