The Wonder Of You: Recorded Live in Las Vegas, August 13, 1970 The Wonder Of You: Recorded Live in Las Vegas, August 13, 1970

I have alot of FTD releases; they're all expensive but when you're an Elvis fan, you buy 'em. This, without a doubt, is one of his better concerts. The sound is fantastic and the music is great! Buy it... It's that good!

The Wonder Of You features the complete concert performance from The International Hotel in Las Vegas on August 13, 1970, mixed in its entirety for the first time by Vic Anesini. Filmed as part of the legendary That's The Way It Is movie, unique performances include: "Stranger In The Crowd," "In The Ghetto," "Make The World Go Away" and "Don't Cry Daddy...

A Real Live Dolly A Real Live Dolly

Reviews

On April 25, 1970 Dolly Parton went back to her hometown of Sevierville, Tennessee to cut her first ever live album. Her duet partner and mentor Porter Wagoner arranged to have the concert recorded, and although the record only went as high as #32 on the Billboard Country Charts, it is widely regarded by ardent Dolly Parton fans as one of her finest and most hard to find albums. Cas Walker, with whom Dolly worked with early on in her career, introduces Dolly and the crowd goes wild. She covers songs she did as a teenager including "Tall Man" and George Jones' "You've Gotta Be My Baby". Miss Parton does a fantastic medley of her early hits such as "Dumb Blond", "Somethin' Fishy", and "Put It Off Until Tomorrow". Other great hits covered are "My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy" (that Dolly had a hit with the year before), "How Great Thou Art", and "You All Come" that she performs with the audience. Porter Wagoner also joins Dolly on four of their most famous duets, all Dolly- written, including "Tomorrow Is Forever", "Jeannie's Afraid of the Dark", "Run That By Me One More Time", and "Two Sides To Every Story". This particular CD is extremely hard to purchase as it was only available through Sony Legacy when they sold the Dolly Parton boxset called "Dolly" in October, 2009. The "A Real Live Dolly" CD is not available in any stores which makes it a collector's item up there with the CD releases of Dolly's "Here You Come Again", "Rhinestone", and "The Great Pretender" albums. This particular collection also features the four bonus live tracks of "Coat of Many Colors"(her first ever recorded version of that song), "Just Because I'm A Woman", and "He's A Go-Getter" and "Daddy Come and Get Me", the latter two of which were never released before anywhere. The price that sellers are asking for this CD is very expensive, but it is worth every dime as "A Real Live Dolly" is one of Dolly's most classic RCA albums.

The Way It Was The Way It Was

Reviews

FTD has re-released the CD originally included in the The Way It Was book. Ernst Jorgensen + FTD have once again come up with the goods! This is a regular 5" CD. 'The Way It Was' kicks off with an early rehearsal of 'Words' and 'The Next Step is Love' setting the scene with Elvis and the band still working out the arrangements. Into track 3 and suddenly the CD bursts from a poor mono rehearsal tape to brilliant stereo quality with the true highlight of the unreleased 'Ghost Riders in the Sky'. At last we have a great mix including Elvis' vocal (which was so desperately missing from the bootleg). If you have any hesitation about this CD we have a classic here already! Next the fabulous bluesy 'Love Me' -- the TTWII version with Elvis swallowing the mic -- at last on an official release. A batch of 'Brightest Star' highlights follow including a delightfully fragile 'I've Lost You' and the dazzling 'Just Pretend'. If you don't know these versions there is a deliciousness to Elvis' very worn voice, which cracks at points, giving a very intimate feel to these songs. Yes, we're eavesdropping on something very special once again. Without the strings + chorus these versions are magnificent. At the end of 'Just Pretend' we also get the well-known fun of Elvis singing 'Don't it make you want to go to the Bathroom' when Ronnie Tutt asks to be excused -- Great stuff! The July 29th rehearsal of 'Words' follows, nicely showing how the song has developed since they were fooling around on track 1 -- Elvis sings 'Words are all I have to steal your ass away'! Then the gorgeous 'I Just Can't Help Believing' -- the complete 6 minute try out which was only glimpsed on the original TTWII film. Surely a favourite song of everybody's, this is another highlight. It's fascinating to listen to Elvis and the band working on this song without strings and backing vocals and Glen Hardin's piano shines on this version. A technically poor 'Something' follows but is intriguing in that Elvis' voice is mixed way up front and his phrasing is very different from the on stage version. 'Polk Salad Annie' takes us to the International Hotel Stage Aug 7th rehearsal (Elvis in the Red Shirt). 'Mary in the Morning' follows (as in the film), a delightful version and great to have officially released. In fact five of the CD's 25 tracks have been released before and the first is the outstanding 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' which was previously on the Silver box set. Here however it is in perfect context which makes it truly shine. Completely capturing the power of Elvis' vocal it is another highlight and it also shows the hard work and determination of the full dress rehearsal -- Just astounding. 'Sweet Caroline' (One Night in Vegas) is chosen to represent Show 1. 'Hound Dog' and a cruisey 'Heartbreak Hotel' from Show 2 are next, including some fun dialogue showing Elvis in good humour which nicely captures the feeling of his 70 Vegas performances. The false start where the band misses Elvis' intro to 'H Hotel' is a delight. Then 'Don't Be Cruel' from Show 3 (L in Las V/Lost Performances) but here the bonus is the missing banter with the audience. Elvis mentions that he has to do 420 songs and is just warming up! Straight to Show 4 and a short but powerhouse 'Blue Suede Shoes' plus the film version of 'You Don't Have to Say You Love Me'. You've seen the film, so you know that this is a fabulous version. In dynamic quality -- put on the headphones and soak up the feel of Las Vegas. 'Mystery Train/Tiger Man' (Film + Box set) are great versions taking us to MGM's final show (Red Ladder Suit). From the film we have 'The Wonder of You' -- Elvis' voice is slightly strained compared to the single version giving it a lovely emotional quality. A very fine and bluesy 'One Night' follows and 'All Shook Up' takes us out. -- ElvisAustralia FTD Reviews

Raging Phoenix [First Print Edition] DVD Raging Phoenix [First Print Edition] DVD

Reviews

I have seen JeeJa Yanin' s Chocolate and was completely impressed by the story, acting, and Choreagraphy of the fight scenes. I loved it. So much I searched the internet and found out she has a second one. I suddenly found this one as well on amazon.com . I bought it immediately along with an uncut version of Chocolate. Raging Phoenix is excellent. I like them both but Chocolate is my favorite. Raging Phoenix has the same impressive choreagraphy and I like the story as well. In just a very short time JeeJa Yanin has become my favorite martial arts leading person. Like all things, it is a matter of individual taste or preference. I recommend watching the previews or trailers available of both movies on amazon.com and Youtube and decide if you might like them enough to either rent or buy them. I can hardly wait for her third film.Chocolate

It quickly becomes evident from a viewing of this DVD that it's an unauthorized copy of the film and a very poorly-made one as well. The quality of the print is so bad that it was painful to watch, and it was only my great appreciation for "Chocolate" that made me want to try. I gave up about a quarter to a third of the way into the movie. I saw enough though to think that this film is not nearly as good as its predecessor, enough to convince me that I would not want to waste the time or money it would take to see the film as it was meant to be seen.

If you liked Chocolate...this will disappoint. It may have been the editing...or to much of a force of B-boy moves into the action sequences...I'm not sure. Don't me wrong...I still enjoyed the movie and gave 3 stars...but I do not agree that this sophomoric effort surpassed or equaled her first. But watch...you be the judge.

I saw this cover and I saw oh wow !!! SHE'S BACK !! and its called RAGING PHOENIX !! I cant wait !!! ..... then.... I saw it... was very sad. The movie is pretty confusing and all over the place. Let me just say someone is collecting tears. ok. TEARS FROM GIRLS. then there are other characters with way too much screen time that, frankly, I dont care about. Bottom line... I bought this movie to see her in some great action scenes with perfect choreography and hard hitting sound fx. THAT IS NOT IN THIS MOVIE. sorry. Hope her next movie is better. I AM A HUGE FAN OF CHOCOLATE and dont want her to fade away.

I wasn't expecting much from JeeJa Yanin's original film ("Chocolate"), but her physical talents were showcased in spectacular fashion and won me over despite the shortcomings in terms of scriptwriting. That film grew on me more and more after repeat viewings, but there still was room for improvement in the pacing and storyline elements. Enter "Raging Phoenix", which not only avoids a sophomore slump for JeeJa, but actually surpasses "Chocolate" in total entertainment value. One way it does this is to allow JeeJa to express her camera presence and charisma. This was surprising to me personally, because her previous role in "Chocolate" was so introverted and robotic that it was essentially impossible to determine whether or not this girl could steal a scene without beating someone's brains in. In "Raging Phoenix", however, she really cuts loose during the opening half as she jokes around, engages in some funny dialogue, and participates in some light-hearted fight scenes involving drunken styles of martial arts. That one-vs-many boat brawl is - now wait for it - a boat-load of fun. JeeJa exhibits a natural likability that her fellow countryman Tony Jaa severely lacks. Don't misunderstand me, because I am a fan of Tony's films, but he has some serious limitations as all of his screen presence is earned through his (phenomenal) physical skills. JeeJa, on the other hand, portrays her character in a way that is very endearing. In other words, I'd love to have her as a younger sister. This charm is a major reason why this film is so entertaining. When the action scenes are bridged by good "non-action stuff", that's a huge plus. The mood gets more serious when the kidnapping plot line is fleshed out more, but even here the film stays attention-grabbing with an interesting twist involving drug dealing. Now, I'm not saying that the script is incredibly strong. It's not going to win any awards in that realm, nor is it as strong as more dramatic action films like "Kill Zone" (2005), but it does build anticipation for the finale and establishes characters a bit more than usual. In addition, "Raging Phoenix" one-ups "Chocolate" by introducing a very strong lead antagonist during the latter half (played by Roongtawan Jindasing - Asian Pacific Women's Bodybuilding Champion). This lady is one tough son-of-a-gun who proves incredibly difficult to take down, which automatically makes things a bit more exciting than having JeeJa beat down random stuntmen the entire time. Which brings us to the action scenes. There are some one-vs-many scenarios early on, but that shifts decisively towards one-on-one and two-on-one battles afterward, which results in some outstanding fist-a-cuffs. The cavern hideout finale lasts a solid 30 minutes, and Roongtawan Jindasing hands out a great deal of damage to JeeJa and her buddies. It escalates to the point of making one's hairs stand on end, especially when JeeJa gets her second wind and slugs it out in EPIC fashion. That sequence must be an instant classic (at least in terms of girl vs girl mayhem). Heck, this entire film is an instant classic. If you liked "Chocolate", you need to see this. If you didn't like "Chocolate", you need to see this anyways. It's truly an excellent action film, and quite possibly the best girl fighting movie ever made.

Ip Man (First Print Edition) DVD Ip Man (First Print Edition) DVD

Reviews

Overal, great story line and action scenes. Donnie Yen delivers another great fight scene. I recommend it to any martial arts movie lovers.

For any fans of martial arts, this is a must have! This film seems to have flown below the radar, and I'm unsure how it never got a theatrical release in the United States. I was fortunate enough to first see it as part a special movie-marathon in a local theater. Ip Man was one of the most talked-about films of the night (and there were some amazing films that night). I strongly encourage anyone who loves martial arts to watch this. Based on a true story, there is a very human element and depth of character that is often lacking in action-packed movies. Donnie Yen's portrayal of the famous Ip Man is flawless. But do not fear, there are plenty of fight sequences that are thoroughly entertaining for those that just want to see people kick some butt. If you're shopping for a gift for anyone into Asian action films, you really can't go wrong with this one. It has a little of everything. Sure to please.

The Legend of Ip Man is one of the greatest martial arts film ever created. Based on the life of the Gung Fu master of the late martial arts legend, Bruce Lee, it gives insight into the man who set Bruce Lee on his road to stardom. Donnie Yen's depiction of Ip Man was right on target. An A+ performance with incredible fight choreography by another martial arts great, Sammo Hung. I would recommend this film to anyone who loves martial arts films. Donnie Yen was beyond great in this excellent film about the man who spread the art of Wing Chun to the world.

Best martial arts movie I have seen in a long time! No over the top stuff - just true full contact martial arts action. Don't let the subtitles bother you - This is one enjoyable film!

**This doesn't seem like the version of this movie you want to buy--check out the 2-disc edition or the "Dual Subtitled" edition instead, yo!** This movie blew me away- I expected a good "martial arts" movie, but was really surprised to find a rousing, heartfelt story about China during the Japanese occupation. The film effectively shows how martial arts is about so much more than just punching and kicking: in the film, and in the life of Ip Man, it becomes an embodiment of the Chinese national character, the expression of the dignity and spirit of the Chinese people, and a conduit for resistance to oppression. Donnie Yen does an excellent job of conveying the humility and dignity of the character. I found myself really getting caught up in his struggle to maintain his honor in the face of the wearying oppression of the Japanese. Of course, the fight scenes were terrific. The sets period costumes were also very well done and evocative, as was the music. The subtitles, as other reviewers noted, are rather iffy at least in the "Ip Man Dual Subtitled" edition I viewed. However, having lived through the years when the only subtitles available in most kung fu films were the British-mandated ones that old HK companies included in the film print, which were badly translated, and printed in white so it was impossible to read them, well, the bad translation was nothing new to me. In conclusion, this is a very enjoyable movie that not only features some fantastic choreography, but is also an inspiring and well-crafted Chinese national fable about war and resistance that is not simply a framework to hang some fight scenes off of- the fight scenes really are expressive of the theme and story.

The product is just what I needed to organize negatives and keep them protected. It's so nice being able to have them all visible like this rather than flipping through them in a box somewhere.

I use them for my medium format slides and negatives (6x7). I can fit only two per row...three per row is probably for 6x6 crop sizes. The plastic material is nice and transparent and I can't find it add any discoloration or diffusion when I put the slides on the light table. It is especially handy for that purpose. It is a good way to protect the slides, but since the plastic that makes them up is kind of thin, you can expect the three holes (for the binders) to eventually wear if you are flipping them often. I try to grab about 10-15 pages at a time and flip them at once to reduce wear on the holes. It's a small investment to make to protect your film for many years.
